Vehicle Idling Reduction Support

Unnecessary vehicle idling releases exhaust emissions that can result in significant exposures to toxic compounds. The Division supports idling reduction policies and programs by supplying engine pre-heaters to school buses that allow buses to warm up without idling. The Division also provides education, outreach and other materials to schools and communities, coordinating with the EPA, other agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
