This section oversees the operation of mechanical rides operated by carnivals, amusement parks (indoor and outdoor) and other devices used for entertainment purposes such as bungee cords, ride simulators, etc. The program requires annual registration prior to operation to ensure that amusement rides and devices have received the required annual third-party inspections and obtained adequate insurance coverage in case of an accident. The amusement ride program has adopted minimum standards related to the construction, repair and maintenance of rides located at amusement park venues, other permanent installations such as indoor fun centers, and for mobile carnival rides. Our customers include the public patrons of amusement parks, carnivals, county and state fairs, and small gauge railroads such as those at the Denver Zoo and Heritage Square.
