State Board of Human Services

Welcome

The State Board of Human Services was created pursuant to Section 26-1-107, C.R.S. It promulgates rules for program areas in the Colorado Department of Human Services.

The State Board is a Type 1 body (which means that it has rule-making authority) comprised of nine members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate for terms of four years, with state-wide representation including three county commissioners as required by statute. Board members do not receive compensation for their service, but are reimbursed for necessary actual travel expenses in performance of their duties.

The State Board holds public rule-making hearings in compliance with the Administrative Procedure Act, Section 24-4-101, C.R.S., et seq. These hearings are usually scheduled for the first Friday of each month.
