The DVP is currently engaged in the following projects:
Enhanced Domestic Violence Advocacy and Prevention Project (EDVAPP):
Through a generous grant from the Statewide Strategic Use Fund, DVP is providing $400,000 in funds to community-based domestic violence programs for children's services. Additionally, DVP launched a domestic violence co-location project, which places domestic violence advocates at county TANF offices. Co-location Summary
Domestic Violence Awareness for State Employees:
Throughout 2009, DVP will provide general awareness sessions for state employees who will learn how to recognize domestic violence in the workplace, respond to co-workers who disclose domestic violence, and make referrals to community-based domestic violence services.
Recognizing the Co-Occurring Issues of Domestic Violence and Child Maltreatment:
Ruth M. Glenn, Director of the DVP, is co-chairing the Co-Occurring Issues Subcommittee of the Governor's Child Welfare Action Committee (CWAC). This subcommittee will be making recommendations to the CWAC in November 2009. Additionally, Brooke Ely-Milen, DVP Specialist, is chairing the Domestic Violence and Child Protection Services Coordinating Council. This council is analyzing the results of their statewide survey conducted in March 2009. DV and CPS Preliminary Survey Results.
Family Violence Option (FVO) Training:
In coordination with Colorado Works, the DVP provides domestic violence training for county TANF workers.
