The Colorado Works Program provides numerous classes, conferences and informational meetings for its community and county partners every year. Below is a list of the classes that are currently being offered as well as a brief description of the content for each course.
Bridges out of Poverty
Bridges out of Poverty is a two-day class delivered by contracted presenters from aha! Process, Inc.. This educational and entertaining event focuses on the potential causes of poverty, its impact on individuals and communities, and various courses of action that may be taken to address the issue. It is highly recommended for human service policy makers and program staff alike, as well as for anyone else who has a stake in combating this concern in their area of influence.
Colorado Connects Meetings
The Colorado Connects Meetings are conducted bi-monthly and sponsored by the staff of the State Office. Although the content of each meeting varies slightly, among the items that are covered are:
Family Violence Option
Family Violence Option (FVO) is a one-day class delivered by staff from the Colorado Department of Human Services' Domestic Violence Program (DVP). The course is required for all county workers who perform assessments, and includes an overview of domestic violence dynamics (DV 101), as well as a review of the technical aspects of conducting assessments. Survivor Strategies
Survivor Strategies is a two-day class delivered by staff from the Division of Colorado Works. The training contains an overview of Colorado Works program eligibility and case management, and is recommended for both new workers and those with only occasional TANF cases.
