County Consultation, Coaching, and Training:

Help and resources for the ever-changing landscape of Child Welfare

The Child Protection Unit at the Division of Child Welfare hopes to help county agencies in creative problem solving, expert consultation, training, and coaching. A wide range of technical assistance is available at county request at no cost to the county. The Division is constantly pursuing additional supports that might be helpful to county agencies, supervisors, and caseworkers. A sampling of areas where these resources may assist is as follows:

-          Pediatric consultation on medical/forensic assessments

-          Multi-disciplinary case review

-          Placement decisions and visitation

-          Domestic violence

-          Assessment and case planning

-          Building worker resiliency

-          Responding to secondary trauma

-          Racial disparity and equity in decision making

-          Family engagement

-          Safety and risk coaching

-          Enhanced screening

-          Review-Evaluate-Direct (RED) team training

-          Child Protection Team training

-          Behind the Scenes of Child Welfare (includes mandatory reporting)

-          Mandatory reporting (for healthcare providers, education providers & community)

-          Face-to-face documentation

-          SMART case planning

-          Institutional abuse assessment

While some counties have specific relationships with the multitude of available state staff, consultants and technical assistance, others do not. If you have any questions, please contact Tiffany Flores at 303-866-3258.
