Nursing Services

Nursing services is under the direction of the Nursing Service Administrator of the hospital.  Nursing services are provided in all direct patient care areas at Fort Logan.  The Nursing Administrator, Assistant Nursing Administrator, and Nurse Managers and accountable to see that the nursing care provided follows the standards of nursing practice and standards of patient care.  These individuals are responsible for nursing performance improvement, policies and procedures, personnel competencies and licensure within the nursing department.  Nursing care is accomplished through the execution of the nursing process, patient and family education, and patient advocacy.

Nursing care is an organized and systematic process provided by, or under the direction of, a registered nurse.  The practice of nursing encompasses providing care to patients and their families that requires specialized knowledge, judgment and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences.  Nursing includes the recognition of priority healthcare needs, participating and managing patient care based on these priorities, healthcare teaching and patient advocacy.  These services are provided both independently and interdependently in collaboration with other healthcare disciplines.  Nursing’s goal is to assist the patient in reaching and maintaining an optimal level of wellness.
