CMHIP is one of Colorado's two JCAHO-accredited state psychiatric hospitals. The hospital is under the direction of the Colorado Department of Human Services. Clients we serve range from the adolescent to the geriatric population. In addition to serving clients who are not in the legal system, we are the only Colorado facility with a forensic division that serves adults who are found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity or found Incompetent to Proceed (defendants unable to assist in their own defense).
In order to provide mental health services and aftercare services to the residents of Colorado, we have over 1,200 employees, making CMHIP one of Pueblo's largest employers. For information about becoming a member of our team, check out the Employment section of our site.
We are proud to announce the opening of our new Robert L. Hawkins High Security Forensic Institute in June 2009. This is a state-of-the-art 200-bed high security forensic building built to significantly improve the delivery of treatment to forensic patients in a secure setting.
