Grant Jones

Grant Jones' leadership in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors spans 25 years. His career includes non-profit management, a 12-year tenure with a private foundation, and national consulting on community building and faith-based initiatives to improve the life chances of disadvantaged children and families.

Jones currently is the founder and executive director of the Center for African-American Health, formerly the Metro Denver Black Church Initiative. He serves on a number of boards and commissions, including the Metro Denver Health and Wellness Commission, the Colorado Health Institute Safety Net Monitoring Advisory Committee and the advisory board of the Center for Bioethics and Humanities at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

From 1988 until 2001, Jones was a program officer at The Piton Foundation in Denver, where his work centered on strengthening neighborhoods, delinquency prevention initiatives and expanding the role of faith-based groups to build strong and health communities. While with Piton, he was awarded a prestigious Annie E. Casey Foundation Children and Family Fellowship. Before that, he served as executive director of Partners Inc., a nationally known delinquency diversion program.

In recognition of his leadership and life-long commitment to children and families, Jones has received a number of awards and commendations, including the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award and the Rocky Mountain Region Sertoma Club's Service to Mankind Award. He is a graduate of Regis University and in 2005, Regis presented him with their highest honor, Civis Princeps (First Citizen) Award. And in 2006 he received the Lifetime Champion in Health Care Award presented by the Denver Business Journal and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Grant is a 1987 graduate of Leadership Denver.
