Dave Downs, MD, FACP has practiced primary care internal medicine in Denver for the last 19 years.  He trained at CU and at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Medical Center where he later was Chair of the Department of Medicine.  He has been active with the Denver Medical Society, serving as Chair of the Patient Physician Relations Committee, as a board member and as President.  He is currently involved with projects relating to access to care through the Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved and relating to practice redesign through the Improving Performance in Practice initiative at the Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative.  At the Colorado Medical Society, Dr. Downs has served as a member of the Board of Directors, the Council on Legislation, the Physician Advisory Committee to United Healthcare and as co-chair of the Health Leadership Committee and the Physicians' Congress for Health Care Reform.  He now serves as President-Elect.
