What is the Dangerous Dog Registry?

 

A database that houses information pertaining only to owners who have been convicted of unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog

 

 

What is considered to be a dangerous dog?

 

C.R.S. 18-9-204.5 defines a dangerous dog as any dog that:

  1. Inflicts bodily or serious bodily injury upon or causes the death of a person or domestic animal; or
  2. Demonstrates tendencies that would cause a reasonable person to believe that the dog may inflict bodily or serious bodily injury upon or cause the death of any person or domestic animal; or
  3. Engages in or is trained for animal fighting as described and prohibited in section 18-9-204

 

 

Who can register a dangerous dog?

 

Only people convicted of a violation of the Dangerous Dog Statute that are required by court order to register their dog
