Canada Organic Standards
Until Canada adopts National Standards for Organic Foods, enforcement of organic standards is at provincial level. At the present time, only the Provinces of Quebec and British Columbia have some Organic Standards in place.

 

• Quebec - The Conseil des Appellations Agroalimentaires du Québec (CAAQ) acts as the official authority mandated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to manage and monitor the use of reserved agri-food appellations in the province of Quebec.

 

• British Columbia - The Certified Organic Associations of BC (COABC) is the only government-approved body responsible for overseeing the BC Certified Organic Program.
