A Proclamation from the Governor's Office: A DAY OF PRAYER AND REMEMBRANCE WHEREAS, the events of September 11, 2001, dramatically impacted our lives, our nation and our entire world; and WHEREAS, one year ago terrorists attacked our nation, and on the first anniversary of the attack on our country, I urge all citizens across this great state to pay tribute to the heroism and sacrifice of those who lost their lives; and WHEREAS, the United States is a beacon of freedom to the world, and this spirit is the reason we continue to persevere in the midst of challenges to our freedom; and WHEREAS, it is critical that we remember our proud heritage and remain vigilant in defending our freedoms; and WHEREAS, together, we as Americans and Coloradans continue to fight for the same justice and liberty that our ancestors fought for centuries ago; and WHEREAS, it is in this patriotic spirit that I ask you to join me in remembering our nation's fallen heroes of September 11, 2001; Now Therefore, I, Bill Owens, Governor of the State of Colorado, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2002, A DAY OF PRAYER AND REMEMBRANCE in the State of Colorado.
